Energy Education Resources:
Kindergarten Through 12th Grade

Where might teachers and students go to find curriculum materials on such topics as energy conservation, renewable energy, energy sources, or earth science? The Energy Information Administration's National Energy Information Center (NEIC) can help. Its publication, Energy Education Resources: Kindergarten Through 12th Grade, is an annual directory of low-cost or no-cost energy information resources.

The first edition of the directory, published 10 years ago, listed 25 organizations that provided educational resources. This year's edition contains 160 entries, each providing the nature of the resource listed, how to contact the provider, and the materials available. Resources range from curriculum guides, fact sheets, and brochures to films and videos, workshops, kits, tours of local power plants, and software. Entries also include Web site and e-mail addresses when available. The book covers resources for students in kindergarten through 12th grade, and many have materials for specific grade or age levels.

Resources include a striking variety of organizations, including:

The directory's subject index allows users to identify organizations with materials on specific subjects such as electricity, petroleum, coal, natural gas, energy efficiency, nuclear energy, and waste.
