The Monument is only open during the summer season. The Monument opened on June 7, 2008 this season. The opening date for the 2009 season is weather dependent.
CLOSING
The closing date for the Monument is set for October 31, 2008. This date is subject to change due to weather.
Hiking trails and restroom facilities will be open until the closing date of the Monument.
The Monument's Ranger Station will close at 5:00pm on October 13, 2008.
The Campground will close at 2:00pm on October 13, 2008.
RED'S MEADOW SHUTTLE BUS
The Red's Meadow shuttle bus has stopped running for the 2008 season.
RANGER STATION HOURS
The Monument's Ranger Station is open daily from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
Guided walks with a Ranger to the Postpile are available Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00am. Other walks may be offered throughout the week. Please call the Ranger Station for more information.

The area now known as Devils Postpile National Monument used to be part of Yosemite National Park. In 1905, the Devils Postpile formation, Rainbow Falls, and the Minarets were removed from Yosemite's boundaries due to pressure from mining interests.
