About Us
Welcome to Region 2
Transportation is a part of each of our lives, from commuting to and from work or school to having groceries at the local grocery store to walking or bicycling in your neighborhood, we are dependent on transportation.

At Region 2, we strive to make every Oregonian’s and visitor’s time in Oregon safe.  We maintain 4,612 lane miles of state highways, with 868 bridges, including five movable bridges, four tunnels, and two major Cascade mountain passes totaling 24 percent of the State’s highway miles.  We partner with 99 local government agencies (cities, counties, metropolitan planning organizations, and policy advisory committees- more than any other ODOT region) to ensure our roadways are safe and maintained to keep you moving.

During the last Legislative session, ODOT was entrusted with the responsibility to begin addressing critical bridge needs to ensure our ability to maintain freight movement that is important to Oregon’s economy.  To ensure ongoing success in the delivery of projects important to transportation, ODOT is changing the way we do business, and together with our private sector partners we are poised to deliver projects more efficient and more effective then ever before.

Over the course of 2007-2008, Region 2 will have 60 bridge projects occurring.  Some of these projects may affect your daily commute; we apologize for this inconvenience and urge you to use ODOT’s state-of-the-art intelligent transportation system Web site.   Click on www.tripcheck.com for useful traveler information.  We are making every effort to ease traffic delays during this time of unprecedented bridge work.

We encourage you to visit our Web site often to stay up-to-date on projects in your area and to learn more about how ODOT is helping improve transportation and commerce in your community.  Please feel free to contact us  with your comments, questions, or concerns.  We are honored to serve you.

Organization
ODOT’s Region 2 is headquartered in Salem with offices in Astoria, Corvallis and Springfield to serve Clatsop, Tillamook, Yamhill, Polk, Marion, Linn and Lane counties.
The men and women of Region 2 work 24/7, 365 days a year to keep you moving.

During times of inclement weather- and when you may be thankful that you can stay indoors- our maintenance staff are out keeping roads open.  These men and women also respond to unplanned incidents that close roads or restrict traffic.  In addition to filling potholes, overlaying portions of failed pavement, and maintaining roadside vegetation, they also keep the rest areas cleaned and stocked with toilet paper.  These folks are working for you.

The project delivery team has the responsibility for overseeing project selection, development, design, and construction.  They work with stakeholders to identify and prioritize area transportation needs and solutions.  They ensure project delivery within approved scopes, schedule, and budget.  These men and women work to ensure the best results for Oregon’s investment into our highways.
