On March 7, 2005, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute issued a Request for Applications (RFA) entitled, “RFA-HL-05-010, Pediatric Heart Network” that is available at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HL-05-010.html. This Notice is to inform the scientific community that the NHLBI is amending RFA-HL-05-010, “Pediatric Heart Network,” as follows:

A clarification for Clinical Center Applicants is being made in Section IV “Application and Submission Information.” Clinical Center applicants that are not currently PHN Clinical Centers should address how they would participate in the PHN Single Ventricle Reconstruction (SVR) Trial. (Instructions for obtaining the protocol can be found in the RFA.) It is hoped that all new Centers that join the PHN will contribute patients to this trial and should address the specific issues as outlined in the RFA. Recognizing that rare circumstances may preclude otherwise qualified applicants from participating in the SVR trial, the NHLBI will accept applications from them for review and will consider them on a case-by-case basis. Each application will be scored on the basis of the original scientific protocol it proposes and the Center's overall ability to participate in a multi-center Network. The ultimate selection of the Clinical Centers is a programmatic decision that will be based on the needs of the Network at the time of funding.
