The mission of STIP is to create, collect, and share
scientific and technical information through a robust, collaborative,
and innovative Program forged by all Departmental elements using
state-of-the-art technologies that are cost-effective and allow maximum
use of the information. The Plan provides a framework for
effectively coordinating the efforts of the program managers, the
research community, and scientific and technical information
professionals across the Department. Although the Office of Scientific
and Techncial Information (within the Office of Science) coordinated
development of the plan, the plan represents a consensus of the
participants.
