Castiale Pascoe, 1866

(Fig. 77)

Species examined.--C. elegantula (Perroud, 1855).

Diagnosis.--Key characters: Ommatidial size coarse (Fig. 39b); prosternal process expanded apically (Fig. 18); mesal antennal spines present (Figs. 8b, 9b); pronotum with impunctate regions present; femoral carinae absent; tibial carinae present (Fig. 22); procoxal cavities closed laterally (Fig. 24); profemoral apices dentiform (as in Fig. 25b); meso- and metafemoral apices spinose (Figs. 8c, d, 9c, d); profemora slightly clavate (Fig. 37b), mesofemora gradually enlarged (Fig. 37c); metafemora linear (Fig. 37d); elytral spines strong laterally and weak suturally; elytra bright metallic green without dense pubescence. Length: 12-14 mm.

Distribution and Diversity.--Brazil, Paraguay. Monotypic.

Discussion.--Based on the implied weight phylogenetic analysis, Castiale fell as a very basal elaphidiine (Fig. 50). It is a very distinctive genus with its metallic green elytra, spinose meso- and metafemora, and strongly apicolaterally spined elytra.
