CIO Council Awards Leaders, Teams Serving CitizensPosted May 7, 2007 Congratulations to Michael Butler, Ira Grossman, Michael Todd, and the Maritime Domain Awareness Data Sharing Community of Interest Team, winners of the 2007 Chief Information Officers (CIO) Council Leadership Awards recently presented at the GSA-sponsored 46th Interagency Resources Management Conference (IRMCO). The CIO Council Leadership Awards recognize stellar contributions by career federal employees in the information technology field that advance and substantially improve the way the government does business. The winners of this year’s award received recognition for electronic government and information technology advancements having a major impact on a government-wide basis, detailed below: Michael Butler - For technical expertise and guidance in support and implementation of Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12), the Presidential directive requiring all agencies to implement a standard for secure forms of identification to access federal facilities and information systems. Ira Grossman - For development and promotion of the Chief Architect’s Forum (CAF) as the primary vehicle for collaboration between architects across the federal government, and a formal organization of best practices, new federal policies and guidance shared among agency chief architects and IT industry leaders. Michael Todd - For pioneering efforts to deliver the information sharing objectives and implementation of Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 8320.2 – “Data Sharing in a Net-Centric Department of Defense”, and directing Communities of Interest (COI) to develop consumable web-enabled service to authorized users employing community-based agreements. The Maritime Domain Awareness Data Sharing Community of Interest (MDA DS COI) - For demonstrated leadership that successfully met technical, resource, and organizational challenges to improve maritime situation awareness objectives related to homeland defense and national security. The pilot development effort successfully produced data sharing capabilities across three federal departments, DoD, Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and Office of the Director of national Intelligence.
