Hurricane Wilma subjected Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula to two days of rain and high winds. When the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite took this image at 2:35 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time, on October 22, 2005, Wilma was still drenching Mexico with rain and tearing off roofs with high winds. Winds were reaching sustained speeds of 175 kilometers per hour (110 miles per hour). Three deaths in Mexico were attributed to the storm.
