BIOGRAPHIES OF PROGRAM DIRECTORS
Marc Harrison, M.Ed. (Comanche)
Marc Harrison currently resides in Arlington, Texas and is an enrolled member of the Comanche Tribe of Oklahoma and was primarily raised in Cache, Oklahoma. Marc attended the University of Oklahoma where he received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Health Program Planning and Promotion and a Bachelor's of Arts in Native American Studies (emphasis on Tribal Health and Education Policy Studies) in 1996. Upon graduation, Marc had the opportunity to work at the Indian Health Service Headquarters (Office of Management and Administration) in Rockville, Maryland and the Bureau of Indian Affairs Headquarters (Office of Legislative Affairs) in Washington, D.C.
Marc returned to the University of Oklahoma in 1996 to pursue a Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration andLeadership where he was afforded the opportunity to be the Graduate Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs and was the first American Indian to ever hold this position. Marc completed his graduate studies in 1998 and went to work for the Association of American Indian Physicians in Oklahoma City where he coordinated the Health Careers Opportunity Program and assumed the Executive Director position of the Dallas Inter-Tribal Center (Urban Indian Health Program) in October 1999.
In addition to his Executive Director responsibilities, Marc is an active member of the University of Oklahoma American Indian Alumni Association; Executive Board Member of the National Council of Urban Indian Health; Advisory Committee Member of the Indian Health Service-Executive Leadership Development Program; Advisory Member of the Texas Department of Health-Office of Minority Health and Cultural Competency; Advisory Committee member of the Center for Southwestern Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington; and Board Member of Mikela's Miracles S.I.D.S. Connection.
