Adults accounted for 84.8 percent of the 4,202,876 persons arrested in the Nation’s suburban areas in 2007.
For violent crime, adults accounted for 84.0 percent of arrests in suburban areas, and adults also made up the majority of persons arrested for property crime (74.1 percent).
Nearly 30 percent (29.8) of all persons arrested in suburban areas in 2007 were between the ages of 18 and 24.
In 2007, juveniles (persons under age 18) were most often arrested for larceny- theft offenses (86,689) and other (simple) assaults (76,049).
Adults were most often arrested for driving under the influence (490,167) and drug abuse violations (435,502).
In suburban areas, juveniles accounted for 49.9 percent of all persons arrested for arson offenses.
