By race, 75.4 percent of all persons arrested in metropolitan counties were white, 23.3 percent were black, and the remainder were of other races.
White persons accounted for 69.2 percent of persons arrested for violent crimes and 71.4 percent of persons arrested for property crime.
Except for the offense of robbery, more white persons were arrested for violent and property crimes than black persons in metropolitan counties during 2007. Black arrestees accounted for 53.2 percent of all persons arrested for robbery.
Of the juveniles (persons under age 18) arrested in 2007 in metropolitan counties, 67.9 percent were white.
Of the juveniles arrested in metropolitan counties, nearly 54 percent (53.9) of arrestees for violent crimes and over 63 percent (63.5) of arrestees for property crimes were white.
In the Nation’s metropolitan counties, white persons under age 18 accounted for 70.9 percent of all juveniles arrested for forcible rape, and black persons under age 18 accounted for 69.8 percent of all juveniles arrested for robbery.
Of the adults arrested in metropolitan counties in 2007, 76.5 percent were white. White adults were arrested more often than other races for violent crime, 71.7 percent, and property crime, 73.9 percent.
