Males accounted for 76.9 percent of the 1,768,840 persons arrested in metropolitan counties nationwide in 2007.
Of the violent crimes, males accounted for 82.7 percent of all persons arrested in metropolitan counties; of the property crimes, males accounted for 71.4 percent of all persons arrested.
In metropolitan counties in 2007, females accounted for 36.1 percent of all persons arrested for larceny-theft.
During 2007, males were most often arrested in metropolitan counties for driving under the influence (193,832 arrests) and drug abuse violations (178,181 arrests).
In metropolitan counties, females were most often arrested for driving under the influence (47,528 arrests) and drug abuse violations (43,845 arrests).
