H. Joanna Jiang, Ph.D.
H. Joanna Jiang, Ph.D., is a senior research scientist at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) where she works with the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP) on data development and with the AHRQ Quality Indicators (QIs). Her current research focuses on impact of market and organizational factors on hospital performance, hospitalizations for ambulatory care sensitive conditions, and hospital readmissions.
Prior to joining AHRQ, Dr. Jiang was Senior Researcher at the Healthcare Association of New York State. Her previous research areas include dynamics of local physician supply, quality of ICU care, and adoption of clinical guidelines. Dr. Jiang has published in journals such as American Journal of Public Health, Critical Care Medicine, Diabetes Care, Health Care Management Review, the Joint Commission Journal on Quality Improvement, Journal of Nursing Scholarship, Medical Care Research and Review, and Social Science and Medicine.
Dr. Jiang received her doctorate in Health Services Organization and Research from the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, and dual masters degrees in Hospital and Health Administration as well as Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Iowa.
