East Gateway Sector Development Plan

Contact: Paula Donahue, Senior Planner (505)924-3932

Project Description:
The goal is to carry out a planning process that will result in an East Gateway Sector Development Plan.

Location Map East Gateway

Project Timeline:
The kick-off meeting to initiate the planning process was held May 22, 2008, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center, 501 Elizabeth Street NE. Approximately 200 people attended.

The planning team was introduced and spoke briefly about the proposed Sector Development Plan contents and planning work they will be doing with the community during the next 12 months.

The Plan will include an analysis of area issues and assets, a community vision and goals, and a strategy to integrate land use, transportation and economic development.  It will also include a market study with proposals to improve economic viability and land use, land use regulations and site design standards for properties along selected area corridors, a transportation plan and public right-of-way design proposals to support driving, bicycling, and walking, and a public projects list for 10-15 years of capital spending.

Kick-Off meeting participants were asked to use East Gateway maps to indicate areas they liked or disliked for quality of place, transportation and safety.  They were also asked to give the planning team cards with comments and questions.  The Kick-off Meeting Report is attached.
