Paying for medical school

Costs
According to the 2007-2008 AAMC Anual Student Tuition and Fees Report, the average tuition and fees for first-year medical students at public schools was $22,199 for state residents and $40,919 for nonresidents. For students at private schools, average resident tuition was $39,964 and nonresident tuition $40,368. To these costs must be added possible tuition and fee raises, books, housing, and other living expenses during the traditional 4-year programs.
