Introduction to APD CSI

Mayor Martin J. Chavez and the City of Albuquerque are pleased to announce the creation of an exciting course offered to the community entitled "Introduction to APD CSI."

The purpose of this unique course is to introduce the public to the field of CSI.  The course is intended to stimulate the minds of individuals interested in this field as a career, as well as introduce the general public to the exceptional capabilities of The Metropolitan Forensic Science Center.

 The course will provide the attendee a comprehensive overview and hands on application to many of the forensic disciplines used in crime scene investigations.

Sworn law enforcement criminalists as well as forensic scientists from the Metropolitan Forensic Science Center will facilitate the course.

This is the only known course offered in the country that is specific to CSI and designed for the general public.  Unlike a Citizens Police Academy this course is devoted to CSI alone.  The course will consist of lecture as well as practical application exercises.

The course will be 10 weeks long, beginning September 3, 2008, and ending November 5, 2008.  Class will meet once a week on Wednesday evenings from 1800-2100.  The course will be taught at the Metropolitan Forensic Science Center located at 5350 Second Street NW.  Application deadline is August 1, 2008.

Who should attend? 

The course is designed for 25 community members interested in the field of CSI.  This course would be an excellent prelude for individuals considering a career in the APD or forensic science. 

Applicant Criteria
�        Submit to background check
�        Minimum age 18
�        Good physical health
�        Willing to participate in all discussions and exercises
�        Subject to mature graphics and language
�        Attendee must Provide their own camera (35mm or digital)
