      MODerate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer

The MODerate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer is a satellite instrument which will fly onboard NASA's Earth Observing System (EOS) series of polar orbiting platforms.  It's mission is to advance our understanding of the earth/atmosphere system through the generation of science data products based upon observations is 36 spectral regions.  These products will be archived and available to the science community.

CIMSS personnel participate in the MODIS project through the development of Science Production Software, through the support of the MODIS Airborne Simulator (MAS) used to test the MODIS algorithms pre-launch, and through related research which will be applied to MODIS data, such as boimas burning investigations.
