The following is a release by the United States Geological Survey, National Earthquake Information Center: A light earthquake occurred 40 km (25 miles) W of Raton, New Mexico at 4:08 PM MDT, Aug 10, 2005 (4:08 PM MDT in New Mexico). The magnitude and location may be revised when additional data and further analysis results are available. There have been no reports of damage.

Felt (IV) at Raton; (III) at Arroyo Seco and Questa and (II) at Cimarron. Felt (IV) at Aguilar, Trinidad and Weston, Colorado. Also felt at Colorado Springs, Fort Garland, Fountain, La Junta, Lamar, La Veta, Olney Springs, Ordway and Pueblo, Colorado.
