Thesnow highlights the contours of the land it lies on, making features suchas the Appalachian Mountains (lower left) of Pennsylvania, Maryland, WestVirginia, and Virginia much more visible. In the upper left corner, LakeErie is visible, though slightly obscured by clouds, while the northernAtlantic Ocean dominates the lower right portion of the image.
