Mt. Baker Scenic Byway

Glacier, WA to Heather Meadows (24 Miles) - State Highway 542 on the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest offers spectacular scenery ranging from dense rain forests to the rugged mountain summits of the North Cascades. Snow-free late June or July. More about the Mt. Baker Scenic Highway.

North Cascades Scenic Highway

Sedro-Woolley to Winthrop (132 Miles) - High mountain peaks and deep valleys, waterfalls and rivers line the North Cascades Scenic Highway. Take State Route 20 east from I-5, travel along the Skagit River, past Diablo and Ross Dams, up and over Washington Pass and down into Mazama and Winthrop through the Okanogan National Forest. Closed in the winter due to snow. Generally open mid to late April. More about the North Cascades Scenic Highway.

Mountain Loop Highway

Granite Falls to Darrington (50 Miles) - Drive from Granite Falls east on State Route 92 through a lush forest along the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River, past the Big Four Ice Caves, over Barlow Pass, and down along the Sauk River to Darrington. Closed by snow during winter months. Mountain Loop Road Reopens: After a four-year effort to repair more than $10 million in damaged roads and bridges, Mountain Loop Scenic Highway opens Oct. 26 to give outdoor enthusiasts access to many of their favorite trails and roads Mt. Sloan Creek Road #49

From the Darrington Ranger Station, take the Mountain Loop Scenic Byway (FS Road #20) along the west side of the Sauk River. Drive 19.7 miles to the Sloan Creek Road #49 and turn left. Higher elevations are reached by a winding road system climbing under a canopy of trees. There are several views of the North Fork Sauk River and large old-growth trees along the way. The road is graveled, generally passable to most cars. As you reach the higher elevations, you have breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valley.

Segelson Road #18

From Darrington, take State Route 530 west 5 miles to the Whitehorse Store, turn right onto Swede Heaven Road, follow this road for 2 miles. Turn right onto Segelson Road #18. The beginning section of this road system is canopied with various species of trees, then enters into open areas with great views of surrounding mountains and the North Stillaguamish valley.

Snoqualmie Pass - Interstate 90

North Bend to Snoqualmie Pass (21 Miles) - Take time to exit off the freeway to experience a variety of recreation experiences. More about the Stevens Pass Highway.

Stevens Pass Highway

Skykomish to Leavenworth (50 Miles) - A picturesque drive along US Highway 2 east over Stevens Pass, passing Deception Falls, the Stevens Pass Historic Railroad District and the Iron Goat Trail, the colorful Nason Ridge, and the Tumwater River. More about the Stevens Pass Highway.

Mather Memorial Parkway

Enumclaw to Naches (75 Miles) - Travel along the icy White River, following State Route 410 from Enumclaw east through the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, over Chinook and Cayuse Passes, and through the ponderosa pine forested slopes along the American River to Naches. More about the Mather Memorial Parkway.
