Make A Difference Day
Make A Difference Day is a national day of volunteerism that takes place every October.
Volunteers helped package food items at Rio Grande Food Project.
Make a Difference Day (MDD) is a national day of community service held annually at the end of October. Each year, employees from a variety of major businesses and organizations volunteer as well as youth and other individuals, benefiting non-profit groups and scores of needy residents, their homes and neighborhoods. In 2007 3,700 volunteers completed 189 projects, improving the quality of life in our community. Improvements include everything from general clean-up, to creating a community park, to winterizing a drafty house for an elderly person -- and MDD volunteers tell us it's hard to say who is more enriched -- the givers or the receivers.
Make A Difference Day 2008 will be observed in the greater Albuquerque community on Friday & Saturday, October 24 & 25. To involve your group, or to sign up on an individual basis, contact Debra Saine at dsaine@cabq.gov, or 505-767-5815. You can make a difference!
