A former Cornelius, Oregon man was arrested Monday morning by Oregon State Police during a traffic stop on Interstate 5 north of Roseburg after he was found in possession several thousand counterfeit audio CD's, video DVDs, and over $13,000 cash.

On October 22, 2007 at approximately 10:00 a.m. Oregon State Police Trooper Jake Ledbetter stopped a Ford Econoline van driven by JAVIER DOMINGUES ORTEGA, age 24, for failure to maintain a single lane of travel. During the stop, Trooper Ledbetter saw numerous boxes containing a large amount of compact discs inside. A subsequent search of the van led to the discovery of approximately 6,000 counterfeit audio CDs and movie DVDs, including major motion picture movie titles "3:10 to Yuma", "The Brave One", "Transformers" and "Dragon Wars". In addition to the CDs and DVDs, approximately $13,400.00 cash was also seized as part of the investigation.

At this time there is no estimate on the value of the seized counterfeit CDs and DVDs.

DOMINGUES ORTEGA, who advised he now resides in Los Angeles, California, was taken into custody and lodged in Douglas County Jail for Laundering a Money Instrument, Unlawful Labeling of a Sound Recording, and Unlawful Labeling of a Videotape Recording. The money laundering charge is a class B felony and the unlawfully labeling charges are class C felonies. The investigation is continuing.
