Office: (503) 731-3020 ext. 247

Preliminary statistics indicate traffic crash fatalities, and intoxicated driver arrests by Oregon State Police troopers both equal last year's Labor Day holiday figures.

Between 6:00 p.m., August 31st, and 11:59 p.m., September 3rd, preliminary information provided by ODOT's Crash Analysis and Reporting Section reflect six people died in six separate fatal traffic crashes. Last year, six people died and the year before there were ten fatalities. On average since 1970, seven traffic-related deaths have happened each year in Oregon during the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Oregon State Police troopers recorded 78 DUII arrests, equalling the same number of DUII arrests last year. During the 2005 holiday weekend, State Troopers made 62 DUII arrests.
