A Selma-area woman died Wednesday afternoon when she crashed her vehicle into the rear of a van waiting to make a left turn from Highway 199 about nine miles south of Grants Pass.

On June 13, 2007, at approximately 4:00 p.m. a 2000 Ford van driven by JULIE LYNN DUNN, age 50, from Grants Pass, was stopped northbound on Highway 199 near milepost 9 waiting to make a left turn when it was struck in the reay by a 1996 Saturn four-door driven by ANITA MARIE YEOMAN, age 46, from Selma. The impact pushed the van foward and the Saturn came to a stop in the northbound lane.

YEOMAN was pronounced deceased at the scene. Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers investigating the crash report she was not using safety restraints but her vehicle's airbag did deploy. According to witness statements and roadway evidence there appears to have been no attempted by YEOMAN to stop before crashing into the van.

DUNN, age 50 of Grants Pass, was using safety restraints and received minor injuries. She was transported to Three Rivers Community Hospital for treatment.

OSP troopers from the Grants Pass Patrol Office are continuing the investigation. The crash closed travel through the area to one lane with intermittent traffic allowed through the area for almost two hours.

OSP were assisted on scene by the Josephine County Sheriff's Department, Rural Metro Fire, American Medical Response and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
