Office: (541) 889-6469

Enforcement efforts by Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers, with the assistance of an Ontario Police officer, noted a slight increase in DUII arrests and no major incidents during last weekend's Jordan Valley Rodeo. State troopers focused enforcement efforts during the two-day event along over 100 miles of Highway 95.

"For the most part, the crowd was well-behaved and supportive of law enforcement efforts at the rodeo and along area highways," said OSP Lieutenant Richard Pileggi, Area Commander at the OSP Ontario office. "The best part of this effort was that there were no reported traffic crashes which are one of our goals during this type of an event each year."

Between 12 noon Friday, May 18th and 9:00 p.m. Sunday, May 20th, officers stopped a total of 94 vehicles resulting in 132 warnings and 49 citations or custody arrests. Included were 4 arrests for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII), up from 3 arrests made last year, nine people cited for Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, and 16 citations handed out for speed-related violations. The highest speed noted was 95 mph. In addition, one person was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine.
