OSP Investigates Minor Injury Crash Involving Clackamas County Deputy
03/31/2007
Lieutenant Gregg Hastings
Public Information Officer
Office: (503) 731-3020 ext. 247

A Clackamas County (CCSO) Sheriff's Deputy enroute to an emergency call was involved in a single vehicle minor injury crash on Highway 224 just west of Eagle Creek Saturday afternoon. Oregon State Police were asked to investigate the crash that closed the highway about 30 minutes due to downed power lines.

On March 31, 2007 at approximately 3:30 p.m., a CCSO deputy was responding to an emergency call westbound on Highway 224 near Dale Lane. The deputy, who had emergency lights and siren activated, was driving in heavy rain conditions when his patrol car lost control in standing water on the highway. The patrol car spun across the eastbound lane off the highway where it struck a power pole. The pole was sheared off near the base resulting in wires coming down across Highway 224.

The deputy was able to get out of the overturned patrol car and assist with traffic control until local emergency responders and County and State police officers arrived.

The involved deputy's name and information will be released through CCSO at a later time. The deputy was transported to Providence Milwaukie Hospital for a medical examination of minor injuries.
