In 2005, 76.2 percent of all persons arrested nationwide were male.
Males accounted for 82.1 percent of persons arrested for violent crimes and 68.0 percent of persons arrested for property crimes.
Law enforcement reported more arrests for drug abuse violations than for any other offense; 80.9 percent of all persons arrested for that offense were male.
In 2005, 38.6 percent of arrests for larceny-theft offenses were of females.
