  • In 2005, 76.2 percent of all persons arrested nationwide were male.
  • Males accounted for 82.1 percent of persons arrested for violent crimes and 68.0 percent of persons arrested for property crimes.
  • Law enforcement reported more arrests for drug abuse violations than for any other offense; 80.9 percent of all persons arrested for that offense were male.
  • In 2005, 38.6 percent of arrests for larceny-theft offenses were of females.
