GOV. RITTER VISITS NORTHEAST COLORADO TODAY

Gov. Bill Ritter resumes his statewide outreach tour today with a visit to northeast Colorado, making stops at Northeastern Junior College and the state prison in Sterling. He also will be meeting with city, county and other municipal leaders and the public for a roundtable discussion of local issues.

Today's schedule includes the following events:

11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.:

Gov. Ritter will be the featured guest during an open forum with state employees as part of the Statewide Liaison Council for Classified Employees in Higher Education conference.

Location: Northeastern Junior College, Hays Student Center, second-floor ballroom, 100 College Ave., Sterling.

1 to 2 p.m.:

Gov. Ritter will tour the Sterling Correctional Facility and meet with corrections officers. Opened in 1998, the facility is one of the state's largest prisons with 2,545 beds and about 730 full-time employees.

Location: Sterling Correctional Facility, 12101 Highway 61, Sterling.

2:30-3:30 p.m.:

Gov. Ritter will meet with Logan County Commissioners, Sterling City Council members, other leaders and the public during an open community forum to discuss issues of local importance.

Location: Logan County Courthouse, 315 Main St., Sterling.
