Mr. Lonnie G. Cooper and his Granddaughter holding the
20 year service award!
|
Mr. Lonnie G. Cooper, official
Cooperative Weather Observer at Melbourne, Arkansas, was recently awarded the United
States Government 20 year emblem and letter of appreciation from the Department of
Commerce for his outstanding contribution to the field of meteorology. Mr. Cooper's daily
weather reports have been extremely helpful and accurate during the past 20 years. He has
been instrumental in observing severe weather and reporting the activity to the National
Weather Service at Little Rock, Arkansas.
At
the end of each month the precipitation measurements are mailed to the environmental data
service's National Climate Center in Asheville, N.C., where they are processed for
computer storage and published in NOAA's Climatological Data to become a part of the
permanent record of the world's weather. |
Mr. Cooper is one of the many Cooperative
Observers who help make our job at the National Weather Service more efficient! His
dedication throughout the years has been a great service to the Nation and to our job of
observing and recording the world's weather.
The
National Weather Service Regional Office in Fort Worth, Texas join the Secretary of
Commerce, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administrator and the National Weather
Service Director, in congratulating Mr. Cooper on this outstanding record of public
service. |
