This pathfinder includes information on Mexican society. It is divided into the following categories: General Reference | Anthropology | Demography | Diaspora | Human Rights | Indigenous Groups | Women & Gender Studies The most important source for bibliography of books and articles concerning Mexico is the annual Handbook of Latin American Studies (http://lcweb2.loc.gov/hlas/) produced by over 130 contributing editors under the editorship of the Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress. Additional coverage of journal articles can be found through a subscription to the Hispanic American Periodical Index (http://hapi.gseis.ucla.edu/).   Both the Handbook and HAPI are available in selected libraries in book form.   One of the major aggregators for links to a wide variety of subjects relating to regional resources for Latin America is the University of Texas' LANIC (http://lanic.utexas.edu/la/mexico/). Another site one should especially note is the site prepared by the Law Library of the Library of Congress for international and multinational information on their Guide to Law Online (http://www.loc.gov/law/guide/mexico.html). CENTRO DE ESTUDIOS DE OPINION  (http://www.ceo.udg.mx/)
Features the Center for Opinion Studies at the University of Guadalajara, Mexico. Offers opinion poll results at state, national, and international level created by the Center. Provides access to an electoral map, including an electoral calendar from 2001 onward. Links to the electoral institute of all Mexican states by clicking in an image map of Mexico. CENTRO MEXICANO PARA LA FILANTROPIA  (http://www.cemefi.org)
The Mexican Center for Philanthropy (CEMEFI) is a civil nonprofit organization that seeks to promote the culture of philanthropy in Mexico, and to strengthen the organized participation of civil society in the solution of the problems facing communities in Mexico. ELDIS: THE GATEWAY TO DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION  (http://www.eldis.org/)
Eldis is a gateway to selected online information sources on development issues, including subject research guides, weblinks, country profiles (including Mexico), and news. Includes a Spanish version of this portal focused on Latin American countries.

The Development Education Program (DEP) of the World Bank Group highlights social and economic indicators for Mexico. DEP includes such demographic and economic statistics as the gross national product, key economic ratios and long-term trends, the infant mortality rate, the adult illiteracy rate, and more. DEP offers data indicating how prepared Mexico is for economic growth, as well as details on issues affecting the economic growth of the country. Links to sites pertaining to trade and development in Mexico are provided. This information is intended to be used with classes at the secondary level.

The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) offers a country profile of Mexico. The profile features a socioeconomic, political, and demographic overview of the country that includes pertinent statistics. The Latin American Network Information Center (LANIC), a service of the University of Texas at Austin, provides the full text of "Zapatistas! Documents of the New Mexican Revolution," originally published by Autonomedia. "Zapatistas" contains the English language text of Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN) communiques, interviews, letters, and essays from December 31, 1993-June 12, 1994. The EZLN is based in Chiapas, Mexico.
