The Central Intelligence Agency publishes and updates the online directory of Chiefs of State and Cabinet Members of Foreign Governments weekly. The directory is a reference aid.

This website contains the on-line versions of books previously published in hard copy by the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress under the Country Studies/Area Handbook Program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Army. Because the original intent of the Series' sponsor was to focus primarily on lesser known areas of the world or regions in which U.S. forces might be deployed, the series is not all-inclusive. At present, 101 countries and regions are covered. Notable omissions include Canada, France, the United Kingdom, and other Western nations, as well as a number of African nations. The date of information for each country appears on the title page of each country and at the end of each secion of text.

Whatever one’s views are on its goals, a search of the site yields valuable information on a country’s armament found only with difficulty elsewhere.

"Human Rights Watch is an independent, nongovernmental organization, supported by contributions from private individuals and foundations worldwide." Search its records for reports on the human rights records, abuses, etc. of any given country.

INCORE: Conflict Data Service: Regional Internet Guides

Founded in 1993, INCORE (Initiative in Conflict Resolution and Ethnicity) offers a number of publications and services, including internet guides to particular countries involved in conflict. "Each guide lists sources which have unique, relevant and preferably substantive content relating to ethnicity and/or conflict in the country/region concerned."

The IFES "provides professional advice and technical assistance in promoting democracy and serves as an information clearinghouse on democratic development." The sites offers reports on anticipated and past elections ans progress towards democracy around the world.

Published at the Department of Peace Studies, University of Bradford, Bradford, U.K., this site may be searched for articles in the journal concerning Somalia.

It includes introductions to WTO activities and a large database of official documents."

Provides extensive economic and developmental information from the World Bank on East and Southeast Asian countries. Includes reports, project descriptions, economic statistics, and news from the region as well as country-specific information and links to government agencies. Some reports in PDF format.
