To earn a President's Service Award, individuals, families, and groups must keep a record of volunteer activities and hours served. Activities may be kept as a diary or calendar, but it's much more convenient to track your hours online with the USA Freedom Corps' Record of Service.

A Record of Service is a private journal of your volunteer time and experiences in response to President Bush's call to service. You can keep a record of your activities serving your neighbor, your community, your country and the world. Return as often as you'd like, to keep your record of service updated online. To register and create your Record of Service, follow the easy steps below.

  1. Navigate to the President's Service Award Web site at www.presidentialserviceawards.gov. (If you have registered previously and just need to record service hours or perform some other administrative task, you can proceed straight to the log in page at www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/tgact/login/dspLoginAll.cfm. Otherwise, proceed to step two.)

  2. If you have never registered before click on the "Track Your Hours" link on the red navigation bar near the top of the page.

  3. If you are 14 or older, scroll down the page and fill in the blank fields with the requested information, and click the red button labeled "Start My Record of Service." If under 14, please ask a parent or guardian to help with this process.

  4. Next, enter your FMCSA certifying organization code by clicking on the "Profile" tab on the next screen. The certifying organization code is JCD-24123. This code identifies FMCSA as your certifying organization and sets you up to receive credit for your volunteer hours.

You're all set to begin making a difference, one hour at a time!
