Program Description

This program provides grants to state correctional education agencies to assist and encourage incarcerated youths to acquire functional literacy, life, and job skills through the pursuit of postsecondary education certificates, associate of arts degrees, and bachelor's degrees. They also may receive employment counseling and other related services that start during incarceration and continue through prerelease and while on parole.

Supported projects include postsecondary education programs.
