Boating at Bonny taken by Mike Alosi

Bonny Lake State Park is a recreational oasis on Colorado’s eastern plains, just a few miles from the Kansas border.

Due to on-going drought conditions, Bonny Lake State Park has aproximately 800-surface acres. (When full our reservoir contains a 1,900 surface acres.) Currently, the outlook for the upcoming 2008 season is not very promising for being able to launch any motorized vessels or to have any good swimbeach areas. Hand-launch vessels will be allowed, just beware it is a distance to the water's edge which could be muddy. For current at the park, one can go to Bonny Lake's Conditions Page.

The reservoir is known for excellent fishing for walleye, channel catfish, and a variety of bass.

Hunterscome to Bonny Lake for deer (draw permit only), turkey (draw permit only), waterfowl, dove, pheasant, quail, rabbit and squirrel. Hunting and fishing licenses,  as well as off-highway vehicle, boat and snowmobile registrations are available at the park.  Located in the South Republican River valley with thousands of trees, Bonny Lake State Park offers a shady retreat from the grasslands of the high plains. Camping is available year-round and Bonny is the perfect destination for that first and last trip of the year. The park also has excellent wildlife and bird watching.
