The Senate’s Appropriations Committee recently approved the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill (S.3182).  I am happy to let you know that I asked that funding be included to upgrade law enforcement voice radio interoperable communication in the City of Inglewood.

This new radio system will undoubtedly help the Inglewood Police Department save time, money, and, most importantly, lives.  The upgrade will help the Inglewood Police Department join the local Los Angeles law enforcement consortium known as “ICIS,” or Interagency Communications Interoperability System. The Inglewood Police Department still uses a dated analog radio system for its radio traffic. Upgrading will allow them to use ICIS to coordinate with nine Municipal Police Agencies from L.A. County during emergencies.

This bill still has several steps to go before it becomes law.  However, having the program included at this initial stage is a very important step.  You can count on me to continue to work for federal funding for this important program that will serve the residents of Inglewood.
