NCHS- Linked Mortality Files:

NCHS has developed a record linkage program designed to maximize the scientific value of the Center's population-based surveys. NCHS is currently linking various NCHS surveys with death certificate records from the National Death Index (NDI). Linkage of the NCHS survey participants with the NDI provides the opportunity to conduct a vast array of outcome studies designed to investigate the association of a wide variety of health factors with mortality.

NCHS Surveys Linked with Mortality Data:

 National Health Interview Survey (NHIS)

NHANES I Epidemiologic Follow-up Study (NHEFS) Linked Mortality File

Second National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES II)

Third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III)

The Second Longitudinal Study of Aging (LSOA II)

 1985 National Nursing Home Survey
