GSA's First Federal Mail Symposium (FMS), was held in February 2005 and had generated a high level of interest. The symposium was for federal mail professionals who manage mail operations, those who establish mail management policy and, those mail professionals who process mail in federal mail centers.

The attendance also extended to those federal executives whose responsibilities include mail, freight, transportation, and or printing.  Workshops, plenary sessions, and vendor exhibits offered topics ranging from mail management policy, technology, mail center security, mail center operations, and accountability for postage expenditures. The main goal of the symposium was to provide training in best practices in mail centers, operations and management. 

A second federal mail symposium has been tentatively scheduled for 2008. For more news regarding future federal mail symposiums, please check this website periodically.
