On-going Training

FEMA's National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, MD, is home of the Emergency Management Institute and the National Fire Academy. There, emergency managers, firefighters, and elected officials can take classes in many areas of emergency managment, including emergency planning, exercise design and evaluation disaster management, hazardous materials response and fire service management. FEMA courses are also given by many states. An Independent Study Program is also available to private citizens. Special seminars and workshops are offered via satellite as part of FEMA's Preparedness Network, called PREPnet.
