International Visitor Program

OUR SERVICES:
Airline Tickets

When host units wish to pay for airline tickets for international visitors, International Programs must assign the traveler a special international traveler identification number, and make travel arrangements for international visitors through the Federal Travel Management Center (TMC). Host units the request for this service on the International Activity Proposal & Information Sheet and provide proposed travel dates. Host units will also supply a job code or other agreement serving as a certification of funds for the ticket purchase, overhead charges and any necessary international express mail services if hard copy tickets are required. In addition, hosts must complete and return the Justification for Travel of a Non-Government Person.

In general, International Programs sends the itinerary and confirmation of an electronic ticket 5 business days before the scheduled travel. The Host Unit then forwards this to the traveler with additional instructions about arrival and local transportation.

If the US Forest Service is providing an airline ticket, it is important to state this in the official letter of invitation. Consular officers need to verify that the visitor has sufficient funds for living expenses and transportation.

In rare cases, US Consulates require international visitors to present a round-trip paper ticket during their visa interviews at US Consulates abroad. If the international visitor is required to present a ticket, please contact us immediately so a paper ticket can be issued and sent by express mail to the traveler.

If tickets are cancelled after being issued, the Travel Management Center will retain the booking fee. As of 11/12/06, this fee is $32.40 for international tickets. Additional fees are charged for canceling paper tickets.
