Secretary Rice to Visit “Wishes and Dreams,” an Iranian Art ExhibitSecretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit the Iranian art exhibit, "Wishes and Dreams" at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2007 at Meridian International Center, 1624 Crescent Place, NW. The Secretary will make brief remarks at the conclusion of the tour with no Q&A's.
Secretary Rice will be escorted through the exhibit by Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) Dina Habib Powell; President of Meridian, Ambassador Stuart Holliday; and Vice President of Meridian, Nancy Matthews, who developed the exhibit. The exhibition displays the work of 30 young and emerging artists from Iran. Some of the participating artists will be at the exhibition where they will be introduced to the Secretary. The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs is sponsoring the participation of 14 of the artists through the International Visitor Leadership Program.
This program is part of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs' response to the President's call for renewed and expanded people-to-people exchanges with Iran. The exhibit will be shown in Washington, D.C. from May 11-July 25, 2007, before traveling to several other U.S. cities through 2007 and 2008.

To attend this event, members of the media must present one of the following: (1) a U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense or Foreign Press Center), (2) a media-issued photo identification card, or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by an official photo identification (driver's license or passport).
