Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC)

Site Exposure Matrices (SEM) Now Available Online

In an ongoing effort to obtain and organize exposure data for all facilities covered under Part E of the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA), the Division of Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation (DEEOIC) is constructing a database called the Site Exposure Matrices (SEM).  The SEM is a repository of information on toxic substances present at Department of Energy (DOE) and Radiation Exposure Compensation Act (RECA) sites covered under Part E.  

To ensure that SEM data accurately reflects information regarding the work processes conducted at a covered facility, the DEEOIC is drawing upon a wide range of data sources.  Accordingly, DEEOIC has established a SEM website for viewing and comment on the Internet.  To access the SEM website, please go to www.sem.dol.gov.  This website also contains information regarding scientifically established links between toxic substances and recognized occupational illnesses.  DEEOIC’s goal in launching and maintaining this website is to display its findings and provide a forum for collecting additional information relative to the SEM website.

An email account designed to collect information is available for use as part of the SEM website.  Comments and documentation regarding the use of toxic substances at covered Part E facilities and documentation of established occupational illness links are welcome.  If you wish to provide comment or evidence, you may do so by using the email link on the SEM website.  You may attach an electronic file to your email for review.  If you wish to submit comments or evidence by mail, please use the address listed below.  All comments will be evaluated for possible inclusion into SEM.
