KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON - The King County Board of Health will hold its next meeting on Friday, April 21, 2006, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Board Chair Julia Patterson, will lead a Board discussion to finalize the items included in the 2006-2007 King County Board of Health Work Program. |

Public Health Operation Master Plan (PHOMP) Status Update
Toni Rezab, PHOMP Project Manager, will brief the Board on the March 30th Steering Committee Meeting. |

The Organizational Structure of Public Health Seattle & King County
Dorothy Teeter, Interim Director, Public Health Seattle & King County, will introduce the Department’s division leadership who will brief the Board on the services within their divisions.

Zoonotic Disease Prevention Code
Zoonotic diseases, or zoonoses, are transmitted from animals to humans, including those that are transmitted by insects (e.g. mosquitoes, fleas, ticks). Dr. Sharon Hopkins, Public Health Veterinarian, will provide an overview of the public health concerns posed by zoonoses. Roman Welyczko, Code Enforcement Coordinator, will explain the legal framework and development of the proposed amendments to Board of Health Code Title 8 for zoonotic disease prevention. Teri Barclay, Senior Health and Environmental Investigator, will summarize current rodent control practices and the proposed new rodent control regulations.
The Board will be asked to adopt the amended zoonotic disease prevention title, including the new rodent control chapter, at the May 2006 meeting.
