Other King County buildings in downtown Seattle Driving Directions From I-5, take James Street Exit. Go west off the ramp, then go west on James Street. Turn left on Fifth Avenue and go south two blocks to Terrace Street. Yesler Building is located on Terrace Street between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue. The building entrances are on Terrace Street. (Parking for People with Disabilities) Yesler Building Access The main entrance to the Yesler Building is on Terrace Street on the north side of the building, between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue. (Do not attempt to enter on the Yesler Way side, which requires an employee key card). The accessible entrance, which has an automated door, is on Terrace Street just to the west of the main entrance. The Yesler Building is on a very steep hill, so those who have mobility disabilities should approach it from Fifth Avenue if possible. TTY Access TTY telephones in the downtown King County complex
Standard Vehicle Parking There are two entrances to the King County garage. One is at Sixth Avenue, just south of Jefferson, on the east side of the garage. A second entrance is via an alley on Jefferson Street, mid-block between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue. After turning south into the alley, proceed to the end of the driveway to enter at the gate. Clearance for both entrances is 6'8" (80"). Standard vehicle accessible parking spaces are located on several floors next to the elevators. See below for information about van accessible parking. P2 One spaceVan Accessible Parking For disability parking for a van with lift, use the Jefferson Street alley entrance. After turning south into the alley, there are three van accessible spaces on the left. (There is no gate. Standard vehicle entry is farther down at the end of the driveway.) Vertical clearance for these spaces is 8'2" (98"). Pedestrian Concourse to Exit Garage To exit the garage, use the elevator to get to P1 (level 1), where there is a pedestrian concourse from the garage to street level at Fifth Avenue and Jefferson. Vehicle Exiting From Garage If you have a windshield transmitter issued with a monthly parking pass, you may exit at either the 6th Avenue (P8) or Jefferson alley exits (P3) during daytime hours. All other drivers must exit the Jefferson alley garage exit on P3. Visiting the Administration Building or the Courthouse? Exit the garage using the pedestrian concourse, head north across Jefferson, then either cross Fifth Avenue there (no traffic light) or proceed farther north and use the crosswalk at James Street (with traffic light). The 5th Avenue entrance has a power door at the north end of the entrance. When you enter the Administration Building from 5th Avenue, you will use the stairs or wheelchair lift to get to the 4th floor elevator lobby and several King County offices. Wheelchair Lift If you do not have a key to operate the lift, pick up the phone next to the lift and you will automatically be connected to King County staff, who will come and assist you with the lift. They will also give you a key to keep, so that you may independently leave, and use lifts at other locations. These wheelchair lift keys are also available by going to
Visiting the Yesler Building? Exit the garage using the pedestrian concourse, then head south on Fifth Avenue one block to Terrace Street. Use the crosswalk across Fifth Avenue, then continue down the sidewalk on Terrace to the Yesler Building accessible entrance (just past the employee-only entrance).
