Current Event, January 4, 2008

I was pleased to be able to attend a recent groundbreaking ceremony at the Boise Airport. The groundbreaking of the new airport tower marks a major step in our collective efforts to improve safety, efficiency and growth capacity of the rapidly growing Boise Airport. This new tower will be instrumental in accommodating future growth, improving Boise's potential to become a major regional or national air freight center and spurring additional economic growth in the region.

Other tidbits

  • The $12.8 million, 268-foot tower is expected to be commissioned in late 2010 or early 2011.
  • The current air traffic control tower is 65 feet tall and 40 years old.
