Teacher and Student Projects
The
American Folklife Center is involved in ongoing efforts to develop and
support programs at all educational levels that examine, analyze, and interpret
the traditions, history, and cultural heritage of local communities and
share the research results with members of their communities. The Center's
involvement with specific projects takes several forms. These include:
providing participants a grounding in basic concepts in folklife research;
advising on curriculum development and research activities; conducting
skills training workshops in audio recording and photography; and teaching
student researchers how to preserve and maintain the materials they collect
during the course of field and archival research.
