Future Forest Development in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and the Pacific Islands

The conterminous United States are not the only lands in the Nation that are affected by development and other pressures. Previous Forests on the Edge publications did not address private or national forests in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, or the Pacific Islands, yet all these contain public and private lands that face challenges similar to those in the lower 48 States. These areas were not included previously because of a lack of available data, but they will be featured in an upcoming Forests on the Edge report planned for summer 2008.
