Twelve full-time employess comprise the staff at the National Elk Refuge including: managers, adminstrative staff, public use, biology, maintenance and law enforcements. Seasonally our staff swells with sleigh ride interpreters, irrigators, volunteer public use and maintenance staff.

Volunteer Program
The National Elk Refuge recieves over 11,000 volunteer hours each year. From local boy scouts to summer retired RV volunteers volunteers collect antlers, teach education programs, staff the Jackson Hole & Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center, complete adminstrative work and maintain facilities and habitat.

Summer Residential/ RV Volunteer Program
The National Elk Refuge maintains 11 RV sites for seasonal volunteers. RV volunteers from all over the country and all walks of life visit and volunteer. In exchange for 32 hours of work each week volunteers enjoy Teton views and some of the most rewarding wildlife work in the country. Local Volunteers/Groups
A wide array of volunteer activities are available for individuals and groups. Individual volunteers provide visitor services at our multi-agency visitor center, groups help in the collection of antlers, individuals also help with biological and maintenance activites.
