September 10, 2008 – Agriculture Under Secretary for Rural Development Thomas C. Dorr today announced that 148 groups and individuals have been selected to receive $9.1 million in grants to repair or rehabilitate housing owned or occupied by very-low- and low-income rural citizens. The awards will be distributed in 49 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
September 9, 2008 — Agriculture Under Secretary for Rural Development Thomas C. Dorr today announced that 35 groups in 25 states have been selected to receive $6.3 million in training and technical assistance grants through the Rural Community Development Initiative program.

September 2, 2008 -Agriculture Under Secretary Thomas C. Dorr announced the selection of 15 historically African-American land grant institutions in 14 states to receive a total of $1.5 million in economic development and business promotion grants.
August 27, 2008 -Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer today announced that 639 individuals and businesses in 43 states and the Virgin Islands have been selected to receive $35 million in grants and loan guarantees for renewable energy systems or to improve energy efficiency in farm and business operations.

Rural Development calculates that as many as 713 jobs will be created or saved as a result.
