Visitors at NIST

NIST staff welcome exchange and visits with their user communities. To facilitate this exchange, NIST holds many workshops, seminars, tours and other events which are available to the public. Some of these events are free; some have a registration fee. See the Conference/Workshops, Colloquium Series, and NIST Technicalendar for further information. Maps to NIST and other useful information can be found at NIST's Visitor site.

Organizations often wish to visit NIST staff to hold technical discussions. NIST welcomes this exchange; but please confine your discussions to non-proprietary information. NIST does not accept proprietary information unless absolutely necessary. The receipt of that proprietary information must be approved by NIST management. NIST does recognize that organizations may need to disclose proprietary information in order to have effective technical discussions. In these cases, please plan ahead. Arrange for a non-disclosure agreement between your organization and NIST before you visit with NIST staff.

Non-U.S. Citizens. The Office of International and Academic Affairs at NIST serves as the contact point for non-U.S. citizens wishing to visit NIST. Each year, NIST welcomes over 500 foreign visitors who wish to learn more about our organization or to explore opportunities for establishing cooperative linkages. OIAA will coordinate short term visits of foreigners to NIST.
