University of Idaho Offers Scholarship Program for Wounded Veterans

You’ve served us; now let us serve you—
with a college degree.

The University of Idaho is an open door and a helping hand for veterans who have been wounded in service to our nation, and/or their spouses. Let us work with you to achieve success in the classroom, on campus, in the community and in society by helping you attain your college degree and start the next phase of your life.

Timothy White with Troops MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C.--Dr. Timothy White, former president of the University of Idaho, speaks to Marines at the Wounded Warrior Barracks, Injured Support Unit, II Marine Expeditionary Force June 21, 2006. The scholarship, tagged 'Operation Education,' is specifically designed and targeted toward service members injured in the War on Terrorism.

The University has launched the Operation Education Scholarship, a pioneering program designed to help veterans severely and permanently wounded as a result of service since Sept. 11, 2001. The spouses of wounded veterans also will be eligible for the scholarship. It is the first such program in the nation.

The university will provide financial support and resources – such as tuition, fees and books, on-campus housing, transportation, medical assistance, child care, adaptive equipment, tutoring and mentorship – at its main campus in Moscow, Idaho, to assist veterans and their families as they re-enter civilian life. We also plan to join with corporations to offer internships and assist you in job placement.

“The students of the University of Idaho are honored and eager to welcome United States military veterans into our community. The Operation Education scholarship offers an educational and student life experience that cannot be found just anywhere. New friends, unique experiences, and a beautiful campus will make it easy to call the University of Idaho home. We look forward to seeing you here.”
